SC Villa 1-2 Kirinya Jinja SS
SC Villa suffered a 2-1 defeat to Kirinya Jinja SS in the first StarTimes Uganda Premier League floodlight game of the season.
David Bagoole put the visitors in the lead, benefiting on Goalkeeper Said Keni’s recklesso to bundle home the opener.
Joel Madondo doubled the advanteg with an outstanding strike from the left flank before halftime.
Bashir Mutanda brought one back for Villa who, despite having a strong second half, failed to mount a comeback.
SC Villa Coach Douglas Bamweyana was unsparing in his post match interview after the game.
“Am Extremely disappointed with my players,” started under fire Bamweyana.
“We set out to play different and they (players) did the opposite. We played many long balls, We shot ourselves in the foot. The players deviated away from what I had told them to do.”
Bamweyana who for much of the game was at the wrong end of Villa’s negative criticism, accused his players of conceding silly goals on the night.
He however added that he was somehow impressed with the second half, and confessed that his would have won any day with such a second half performance, though they had already given themselves a big mountain to climb.
This was Villa’s eighth loss of the season, the fourth game without a win. Villa had beaten up on Vipers and Paidha before two consequent draws against BUL and Police. The club came into the game on the back of a 4-2 loss to KCCA.
Kirinya Jinja have now won three games consecutively after two previous victories against Mbarara and Nyamityobora.
Villa, 12th on the log, will FC Onduparaka in Arua in their next engagement while eighth placed Kirinya Jinja will visit leaders KCCA FC at Lugogo.
