Vipers: Coach Ouma Sets Focus To League After Uganda Cup Elimination

Vipers Coach Michael Nam Ouma has said that his next target is to win the league after his side was eliminated from the Uganda Cup.

Vipers suffered a 2-1 loss to Big League side Proline FC to walk out out the Uganda Cup at the Quarter finals stage.

The loss came at a cost, with team captain Taddeo Lwanga who had levelled matters in the 75th minute, was stretchered off after suffering an injury.

“We didn’t take our chances, they used theirs well,” explained Coach Ouma after the game at Lugogo. “We didn’t control the game, and we got punished.”

Ouma had named an all attacking team on paper but saw his side lose the command in midfield – Three attackers Dan Sserunkuma, Steven Mukwala and Tito Okello all started for Vipers, not to mention Innocent Wafula and Abraham Ndugwa.

“Knockout tournaments are like that, their are full of surprises and non favourites will come and take the day,” Ouma added.

The loss ends Vipers’ dream of playing at the continent next season, with the remaining realistic route will come if they win the league which they trail by four points against leaders KCCA FC.

Coach Ouma added: “Our next target is to come and win our next games in the league. It will come with pressure but its a situation we have put ourselves into.”
