Volleyball: Nemostars Face Financial Hurdle To Reach Egypt

Uganda’s Volleyball giants, Nemostars will need a miracle this time round if they are to take part in the Africa Club championship in Cairo, Egypt.

The Continental showdown is slated for 30th March to 11th April 2019.

The club, whose men’s side has represented Uganda for the last five years at the Africa Club Championships, needs $30,000 in the next four weeks to make it to their sixth appearance.

“Some of this money, like participation fees and air ticket booking, needs to be paid weeks in advance lest the team misses out on bargain ticket rates and/or is excluded from the list of 24,” reads an excerpt from a post on a Club’s official Facebook page.

The reigning National Volleyball champions will have to incur extra expenses to prepare for the tourney.

They have just returned from the Zone Five championships in Kigali at a cost of Sh5M and need another Sh3M to join Kenya’s top teams in Kitale, Kenya in two weeks’ time, for much neededpre-championship competition.

“We have spread our appeal to all those who have sponsored us in the past, to our fans, supporters and well-wishers and to the Ministry of Education and Sports,” says club Patron Neko Muduse-Ojala.

“The response is not encouraging and may not see us through the financial deadlines”.
