Pemba Warriors: Buzangu Back, Two More Signings Confirmed

Michael Ntumba Buzangu’s return highlights Pemba Warriors transfer business so far.

The forward, had surprisingly left the club during crucial times – 2017 playoffs – to play in Algeria.

Buzangu who is a Congolese born but spent much of his playing career in Rwanda, scored 452 points, 70 assists, 111 rebounds and 52 steals in the 2017 season for Warriors.

He has now made a U-turn and has been training with the Kyambogo based team since the side tipped off their season preparations on Wednesday.

Jonathan Kambala and Gatwech Kaet Kutai (KD) are the other two confirmed additions so far, with the club still in negotiations to finalise more players before the much anticipated season starts.

Kambale joins Warriors from Congo while KD is a recruit from International University of East Africa.

Warriors Hope To Make Amends

Following a disappointing season, by Warriors standards after quarter final elimination by JKL Dolphins, the side will look to rectify on errors in the 2019 campaign.

However, if they are to compete for a title, they will have to do it without Syrus Kiviiri who left for Betway Power. Gaus Muhamba, Marc Mathe, Thierry Chitona and Emmanuel Etyang are the other players that have left the club.

Speaking exclusively with SportsNation, Warriors Coach Ronnie Mutebi said:

My club right now lacks leadership, we need player that stands out as a pivot for the team. We also need another experienced point guard who can help Danny Gaaki since the pressure can be too much in that area.”

With the addition of the said signings, Mutebi believes that Warriors are now taking shape:

“Buzangu’s return plus the addition of KD and Jonathan plus others yet to be confirmed, straight away makes us title contenders. Our only objective and goal is the Championship.”
