Cricket: Veterans Recalled As Lady Cranes Set For Victoria Tri Series

Damalie Busingye, former Lady Cricket Cranes captains Barbara Mukankusi and Naomi Kayondo have been included in Lady Cricket Cranes ‘Squad of 18’ that will represent Uganda in the Victoria Tri Series.

Uganda is the host of the Victoria Tri Series – Kenya and Zimbabwe are the other participants – scheduled to start on April 6.

The trio, including Makankusi who last put on a national Jersey in 2016, come with vast experience which will be needed with Gertrude Chandiru missing out.

Makankusi, as quoted by UgCricket’s Innocent Ndawula, noted:

“It is good to know that the selectors still have faith in me. I have been working hard and hopefully I will perform to expectations. It is always an honour to wear the national jersey and play for my country.

The team will mainly rely on other tried and tested players like the shy Immaculate Nakisuyi, Franklyn Najjumba and Rita Musamali among others.
