Uganda Cranes Captain stood tall as Mamelodi Sundowns left Orlando Stadium in Johannesburg the happiest team.
Onyango kept a clean sheet as Mamelodi Sundowns held Orlando Pirates to a goalless draw in an Absa Premier Super League game on Monday.
The shot stopper made sure that Sundowns’ three point lead at the top remain in tact with a strong performance that frustrated Pirates.
Pirates, under the stewardship of former Cranes coach Milutin ‘Micho’ Sredojević, looked the better side, especially in the first half but failed to beat Onyango, and they remain in second, three points below Sundowns.
Onyango denied efforts from Thembinkosi Lorch, Amigo Luvuyo Memela and Augustine Mulenga to quell the hosts’ fire.
Sundowns, top of the log with 44 points with six games to go, will face Al Ahly in the CAF Champions league double header before returning to league action.
