Wednesday, April 24
Women: UMU Ravens Vs KIU Rangers – 6:30 PM
Men: Falcons Vs Ndejje – 8:30 PM
The National Basketball League resumes on Wednesday with two games – one each in the men and women category – played at YMCA, Wandegeya.
Joint record winners Falcons will be in search for their first league victory since return to top flight.
The side lost the opening two games against Sharing Youth and City Oilers, losing 34-81 to the defending champions last Wednesday.
Standing in their way is a resolute Walker Obedi’s charges Ndejje University Angels who have won once and lost the other. Ndejje lost to UCU before overcoming Sharing Youth.
This is a game which both sides will fancy to win, especially for Falcons who have KIU Titans and Warriors in their three upcoming games.
Falcons, who are the two league new comers together with Kampala University, have so far suffered with both depth and quality.
The side who were relegated in 2017 will as expected rely on Douglas Uwizera, Francis Karoro, Henry Mbazira, Dickson Asiku and Ivan Lutaaya for positive results.
In their 75-62 win over Sharing, Ndejje shot 23-67 from the field but Coach Walker Obedi will demand more from his side tonight if they are to win their second game of the season.
Okello David, Salim Kisily, Innocent Ochera, Gauthier Badhera will be Ndejje’s source of points.
This will be a familiar affair for both sides after these teams combined for one selected side to compete at UCU Invitational open this year. Also, some of Ndejje players, Derrick Katumba for starters, held some training sessions with Falcons at MUK pool side.
In 2017, Ndejje beat Falcons 83-75 and 61-44 in the first and second round respectively, in the regular season.
In the Women’s game, KIU Rangers will be targeting their third win from as many attempts this season when they take in a lowly UMU Ravens side. KIU beat up on Angels and MUK Sparks in their opening two games.
The Uganda Martyrs based side on the other hand, lost to Nkumba and A1 Challenge. Also, KIU won both regular season games against UMU last season.
