SC Villa’s relegation struggle was dealt with a big blow after losing 2-1 to visitors Tooro United in a league game played at Mandela National Stadium.
Villa came into the game needing maximum points to confirm their stay and when Ambrose Kirya volleyed Joseph Ssemuju’s delivery for the opener, the glory was in sight. Everything looked on course and nothing seemed could go wrong.
After a brief exchange that involved a couple of missed opportunities, SC Villa managed to keep their 1-0 lead intact at the halftime. However, more was yet to come.
Baker Buyala ran behind Villa’s defenders to meet the long ball from deep before his header left Yusuf Wasswa rooted on the line to level matters for the visitors.
Allan Kayiwa added more salt to the wound after directing Mukasa Musa’s lofty delivery into the far bottom corner with another beautiful header to silence Namboole.
The win left Villa remain on 26 points, four above Ndejje University who have a game in hand against Onduparaka on Wednesday.
Villa will rue missed chances, including Mike Sserumaga’s rocket that was deflected out by Joel Mutakubya in goal late in the goal. Pius Wangi also arrived late to miss Ssemujju’s headed low cross that went across the goal mouth.
