NBL: City Oilers Pile More Misery On Our Saviour To Stay Top

City Oilers exerted their dominance against sorry Our Saviour to win 80-52 in a one sided game played on Sunday at YMCA Court in Wandegeya, Kampala.

The six time defending champions led from start to finish – won the first quarter 19-14 and took a 40-25 lead at the long break. The side added 20 points each in the third and fourth quarter to seal a deserved win.

Landry Ndikumana (16 pts, 10 rebounds) and James Okello (14 pts, 13 rebounds) combined for 30 points but it was Francis Chisioke Azolibe who wowed the crowd with impressive dunks amidst Our Saviour traffic.

The Nigerian Import also contributed 14 rebounds inna spirited performance that also saw all Oilers players contribute to the big score – Jimmy Enabu (8 points, 6 assists), Ivan Muhwezi (4 pts), Daniel Jjuko (9 pts), Abel Omongin (4 pts), Josh Johnson (6 pts) and Jonathan Egau (7 pts).

The Oilers shot 34 of 80 from the field with six made from beyond the arc. They made 6/11 from the free throw line and out rebounded Our Saviour 64-39.

Mandy Juruni’s team has now won three games in a row – Beating Ndejje and Sharing Youth recently – after losing three games on a trot – UCU, Warriors and JKL.

Oilers who scored 50 points from inside the paint, have won seven league games and remain on top of the 12 team log. They face KCCA Men on June 1 in their remaining game of first round.

Our Savior on the other hand, had Elton Bakara score 11 points. Wilberforce Pirwoth and Steven Wokorach managed 11 and 10 points in that order.

The Kikoni based team remains winless and will face KIU Titans on June 1 before a test against Warriors the following day.
