Mbarara City FC Offloads Eight Players

Uganda Premier League outfits Mbarara City FC have released eight players, this website has learnt.

Close sources have confirmed that controversial goalkeeper Ali Kimera who was suspended after ‘gifting’ SC Villa two goals in a league game at Namboole, is among the eight officially shown an exit door.

Most of these players have their contracts expire before the new 2019/20 season kickoff in September this year. However, the developments come at a time when the club have not announced a new coach after the departure of Livingston Mbabazi who has joined Onduparaka.

Ivan Mbowa who joined the club this year fter an infamous stint with Nyamityobora FC will not see his short contract renewed after expiry this month.

Former Express FC defender Ronnie Kisekka, Rashid Mohammed, Bassey Methodius, Clinton Kamugisha, Salim Hood and Umar Muhinzi are the other released players.

Kamugisha spent last season on loan at Wakiso Giants in Big league, Defender Salim leaves without playing a competitive game while Striker Muhinzi who joined from Six O’clock (club in Bushenyi) failed to impress.

Mbarara City occupied fifth place at the final day of the 2018/19 season on their second attempt in top flight. The Ankole Lions accumulated 46 points.

Released Players:

Ali Kimera, Bassey Methodius, Salim Hood, Ivan Mbowa, Ronald Kisekka, Umar Muhinzi, Clinton Kamugisha and Rashid Mohammed.
