Bongai Zungu’s header in the second half gave South Africa a laboured 1-0 victory over Naimibia in an Africa Cup of Nations encounter on Friday in Cairo.
The win, first for South Africa after falling to Ivory Coast, keeps the Bafana Bafana chances of reaching the knockout stages alive as the side will face Morocco on Monday.
Start Baxter’s side looked the better team on the night but failed to put away chances with Namibia’s shot stopper Lloyd Kazapua the difference before Zungu’s goal.
In the same group of death, Morocco confirmed their place at the last 16 of the Africa Cup of Nations with a 1-0 victory over Ivory Coast thanks to Youssef En-Nesyri strike.
