Masaba Confident As Cricket Cranes Shift Focus To Second Round

Cricket Cranes captain Brian Masaba is positive that his side will extend their impressive run to the second round of the Cricket World Cup Challenge League group B.

Uganda eased through the first round campaign with a perfect five-from-five in Oman.

The team returned to a heroes welcome on Thursday and were hosted to a luncheon at Kololo Courts Hotel.

“We are going to take some days of rest,” Masaba told “The hard work doesn’t stop here, it’s still a long road ahead but we are are at home and we are confident to replicate our performances in Oman come July.”

“It was important for us to play better in Oman, we were motivated and managed to show that.”

Uganda Cricket Association (UCA) Bashir ‘Badu’ Ansasira commended the players’ fighting spirit and urged them to remain focussed ahead of next endeavors.

He offered 7000 USD to the team as a sign of appreciation for the work well done.

UCA CEO Martin Ondeko and Chairman Selectors Nehal Bibodi were among other officials who welcomed the team at Kololo.

The week-long event saw Uganda beat Jersey, Kenya, Bermuda, Italy and Hong Kong to top group B at Al Amerat.

Uganda will bank on home support in the second round slated on July 29 to August 2020 and will be clear favorites as they seek to grab the available Playoff berth.

This will be the first high profile tourney hosted in Uganda since the 2017 World Cricket League. It should be noted that Uganda successfully hosted the Africa T20 World Cup qualifiers this year.
