Nicholas Natuhereza To Discuss Development Of 3X3 Basketball In Africa

Nicholas Natuhereza is one of the four speakers for next week’s FIBA Webinar to discuss the “Best strategies to adopt for the development of 3X3 basketball in Africa.”

Former FUBA President Ambrose Tashobya who doubles as the Vice Chairman of FIBA 3X3 committee, will moderate the event scheduled on Tuesday, May 19.

These initiatives are put in place to provide information on various topics from experts.

Natuhereza says that the Webinar will provide a platform to “share and adopt ideas.”

“It is important to share and adopt ideas from beyond Uganda especially from pple in relevant positions and also countries that have been successful in 3×3,” Natuhereza told this website.

“As for the other programs the best we can do is get more skilled and prepared for the post COVID-19 period. It’s the least we can do and we have the time.”

Uganda has been on a right path in the 3X3 basketball development, with the country having participated in two world cups – 2014 Russia and 2018 Philippines.

Uganda also signed a three-year agreement with FIBA to host the 3X3 Africa Cup (2019-2021).

Natuhereza who has been of the above success, has earned enormous respect in Uganda’s basketball circles that he has been building since he joined Uganda Christian University as an assistant coach to American Jason Mehl in 2009.

He is the UCU coach for both men and women teams (UCU canons and Lady Canons) and Uganda women team the Gazelles.
