Preview – Wakiso Eye Maiden Home Win Of Campaign

Wakiso Giants had a poor first half of the season and will be hoping to get of a good start to the second round.

The Purple Sharks struggled for victories, winning just twice in their first 15 games.

Those two victories all came away from home and they will be desperate to register their first win at home, on Friday.

Douglas Bamweyana’s side have so far drawn six of their seven games at the Kabaka Kyabaggu Stadium this season, losing once.

The loss can in their final home game of the first round, going down 1-0 against Busoga United.

They need to come up with consistent results if they are to surge up the standings from 12th.

“We feel ready and the target is to have consistent decent results. Noted Bamweyana ahead of the game.

“The break has helped us to work on areas where we lacked and we are raring to go.”

Wakiso’s problems have been more defensive this campaign and will hope to have sorted them when they come up against Mbarara.

They failed to score in just five of their 15 first round games but it was the goals that they were conceding at the other end that were letting them down.

Mbarara have also, so far, not done themselves favours this campaign either.

They start the day in a disappointing 13th spot, just two points above the relegation zone.

Their first round was so wanting that they won just three games whilst losing as many as seven.

Away from home, the Ankole Lions have won just once all campaign, losing four and drawing the other two.

The Stats

This will be just the fourth meeting between the two sides in history.

In the first three meetings, these sides are yet to register a draw with Wakiso winning twice and Mbarara once.

Their meeting earlier in the season saw Wakiso win 1-0 at Kakyeka, a game that saw Jude Ssemugabi miss a penalty for Mbarara
