2021 FUFA Drum Given Green Light, To Be Played At Njeru

The 3rd edition of the FUFA drum will be played at the Fufa Technical Centre Njeru.

This year’s edition has been delayed due to the COVID-19 outbreak and it did not place in 2020 for the same reason.

The development was confirmed by the FUFA executives during the meeting that was chaired by FUFA president Eng. Moses Magoga on Friday, last week.

“The FUFA Drum 3rd edition (2021) shall be played at FUFA Technical Centre”. “Dates will be communicated.” Read part of the statement by FUFA.

The Drum was officially launched in January 2018 at FUFA House by FUFA President Eng. Moses Magogo, as a new football tournament aimed at taking the beautiful game to the masses in Uganda.

It is played between 16 provinces of Uganda and is managed by official FUFA regulations.

According to FUFA website, the Football governing body in Uganda meets the costs of the team in the areas of accommodation, transport, individual and team winner’s prizes, trophies and medals plus costs of match officials including the competition and training balls.

The opening match of the tournament was hosted by Busoga United province as they defeated Bugisu province 3-0 on 24th February 2018 at the Kyabazinga Stadium, Bugembe.

Buganda emerged the inaugural FUFA Drum winners after defeating West Nile 2-1 on aggregate, in the final.

Acholi province are the defending champions having won the shield in the 2nd edition after overcoming Bukedi 5-3 in the shoot outs, following a goalless draw in the normal time.
