*Nam Blazers 73-68 Ndejje Angels
*UCU Canons 78-85 KIU Titans

KIU Titans returned to winning ways with a 85-78 victory over UCU Canons in pulsating NBL affair in Kansanga.

After a disjointed performance last weekend that saw the side fall 66-58 against JKL, the Titans were cohesive and motivated against Nicholas Natuhereza’s side.

Faisal Aden led the way when he shot 10 of 16 from the field to collect a game high 27 points while Michael Bwanga and Peter Obleng added 14 and 11 points respectively.

Ibanda Lwabaga had a UCU team-high 19, Fayed Baale scored 15 and Sudi Ulanga, facing his former team, managed 11.

“I am just happy that we are back into the winning column, last week was bit hard on us, but i like the way how we regrouped,” said KIU Titans coach Brian Wathum.

“We should have rebounded better and we should have reduced on the number of turnovers. Things should have been better for us.

“It was a tough job and I have to recommend UCU, they are a tough side and whenever you face them you must know who you are dealing with.

“We could have done better, we gave them so many second chance points I believe we could have played better defense. We relied so much on our offense and that is where we got an upper hand but a win is a win and am glad we managed to come through.”

KIU Titans quickly got off the block to lead 23-17 in the first quarter and were rarely troubled in a game they out-rebounded their opponent 44-38 despite making 14 turnovers against UCU’s 9.

The Titans have won two from three – This is their second win after beating Betway Power 91-66. They face Namuwongo Blazers next weekend.

The Canons on the other hand, have two wins from four games – They beat Ndejje and Falcons, and had lost to Nam Blazers 45-66 earlier.

UCU who had their game against JKL postponed due to rain on Saturday in Mukono, face City Oilers on May 22.
