AFCON Beach Soccer: Sand Cranes Seek Solace Against Tanzania

Uganda National Men’s Beach Soccer team, the Sand Cranes will hope to bounce back with victory in their second game at the on-going 2021 Beach Soccer Africa Cup of Nations tournament in Senegal when they take on Tanzania on Monday.

Uganda, who are taking part in their maiden AFCON finals, lost 5 -1 against Senegal on Sunday.

Isma Kawawulo struck the only goal for the Sand Cranes as they suffered a huge loss in their opening game.

Royal Mendy and Babacus Fah each scored a brace in the game, with Ninou Diatta scoring the other to ensure that the hosts earned a perfect start.

Having lost in their opener, there will be no room for error for Salim Jamal Muwonge’s side against Tanzania.

Ahead of their second game, Muwonge, says they learnt a lot in the first game and hope to rectify their mistakes.

“We have learnt a lot in this game and we’ve also had some strength in this game.

“We are going to capitalize on the strength going forward.

“We are going to play against Tanzania and also work on our mistakes so that we get a good result in the game, perhaps that will help us quality to the next round.”

The tournament is set to run between 23rd Up to 29th May in Saly City, Senegal

Uganda is drawn in group with hosts Senegal and Tanzania, with the other team Dr. Congo having withdrawn from the tournament.
