NBL Playoffs: KCCA Leopards, UCU Canons Settle for Bronze

KCCA Leopards (Women) and UCU Canons (Men) have clinched third place finishes at this year’s National Basketball League.

KCCA beat KIU Rangers 71-61 in a losers match played on Sunday YMCA court in Wandegeya.

Sudan Rebecca Aanyu led the way for the Leopards with 20 points while Angella Namirimu had 16 points for Ali Mavita’s charges.

Becky Longom (14 rebounds) and Sylvia Nakazibwe (7 assists) were also outstanding for KCCA who were denied a chance to the final by JKL Lady Dolphins.

Perus Nyamwenge and Uwineza Ninette scored 19 and 12 points respectively for KIU Rangers who were beaten by UCU Lady Canons in the semis.

KCCA were a good value for the result having out-rebounded KIU 57-39 and made fewer Turnovers (22-26).

In the other Men’s tie, 2019 finalists UCU Canons grit teeth to overcome KIU Titans 69-68 and settle for bronze.
