Preview: UPDF, Wakiso Giants Seek First Win

UPDF FC and Wakiso Giants are determined to secure their first victory of the season as they clash on Matchday Three of the Uganda Premier League at the Bombo Barracks Ground.

Both teams have managed to earn only one point in their first two matches, each suffering a defeat.

UPDF FC opened their campaign with a goalless draw against URA FC at the Bombo Barracks Ground but then faced their first loss of the season against Kitara FC at Masindi Stadium, with Kawagu Christopher scoring an own goal.

On the other hand, Wakiso Giants rebounded from a 3-0 home defeat to Maroons in their opener to secure a 1-1 draw with Bright Stars.

UPDF aims to secure only their second victory against Wakiso Giants in their six encounters.

The Army side enters this match in a poor run of form, having failed to secure maximum points in their last six games, with three draws and three defeats.

Their last victorious outing was in April, with a 3-0 home win against Blacks Power last season.

Despite having an advantage in terms of league form, the Purple Sharks have only won one of their last five matches, registering two draws and two losses.

Their last maximum point haul was a 2-0 home triumph against Bright Stars in May of the previous season.

However, they face a team they have defeated four times in six meetings, with two of those wins coming at the Bombo Barracks Ground.

In their last meeting at Bombo, Frank Ssebuffu’s first-half penalty kick propelled Wakiso Giants to a 1-0 victory.
