Wanderers Meet Kutchi Tigers In Entebbe

Wanderers’ search for a second win of the season will continue on Sunday when they face Kutchi Tigers at the Green Oval in Entebbe.

The Davis Karashani captained side bowled off the season with a resounding 150-run win over Nyakasura in July, but till date, that’s the only win to their name.

The side’s subsequent game was against Challengers that ended in a 59-run loss early last month. They followed that game with two matches that both ended in ties, with their most recent being a no result game against Africa Cricket Club.

The side enters tomorrow’s game placed 6th with 4 points.

Opponents Kutchi Tigers are one of the only three teams in the league still with 100% run in the league. Kutchi Tigers have only played two games this season; they have won both.

The Tigers beat Ceylon Lion by 49 runs in their opening game of the campaign before edging Avengers by 1 wicket in their second.

They have not played a game since 3rd September when they faced Avengers, but they come into this one placed 5th with 4 points.

When these two sides met last season, Kutchi Tigers won by 7 wickets through the Duckworth Lewis method. Considering their start in the league, the Tigers will be upbeat of maintaining their status quo.

Wanderers fans will feel it’s time for their new recruits, Martin Akayezu, Emile Rykiriza and Wilson Niyitanga- all three additions from the Rwandan league- to step up.

The Rwandese internationals haven’t really found their footing in the Ugandan league.

A win for either side will see them dislodge Nyakasura from the third position. Nyakasura have won three of their first six games, but their net run rate is inferior as compared to the two sides.
