Crested Cranes Squad To Face Cameroon Summoned

Crested Cranes interim head coach Charles Ayiekoh Lukula has named a squad of 32 players as the team starts preparations for the Paris 2024 Olympic Games qualifiers (CAF) 2nd round encounter against the Lionesses of Cameroon.

Uganda is set to host the first leg of the two-legged affair on 26th October, 2023 at the FUFA Technical centre Njeru with the return leg due 5 days later in Douala.

The winner on aggregate will advance to the 3rd round of the qualifiers.

Ayiekoh and his technical team were tasked with the responsibility of steering the senior women’s National team on a one month interim basis as the Federation continues with the process of evaluating the applicants for the job on a permanent basis.

The carefully selected team of thirty two consists of five goalkeepers, nine defenders, seven midfielders and eleven forwards.

24 are locally based players, with defending FUFA Women’s Super League champions Kampala Queens contributing 13 of those, while only eight are playing outside the country.

However, there is no place for Hassifa Nassuna, Sandra Nabweteme and Ruth Aturo.
