Preview: KCCA Takes Search for First Point To Leaders Kitara

Kitara FC aims to further KCCA FC’s losing streak as they face off at Masindi Stadium on match-day four of the Uganda Premier League.

The hosts have made a strong return to the top flight, securing three wins in a row. They started by stunning SC Villa in the opener, followed by a home victory against UPDF, and a 2-1 away win against Gaddafi FC that propelled them to the top of the league.

Brian Ssenyondo has every reason to be pleased with these results, but this flawless start continues to raise expectations and anticipation among the passionate home fans.

Conversely, KCCA has experienced their worst-ever start, losing all three matches against BUL, Maroons, and Express.

Coach Sergio Traguil is under mounting pressure as it seems he has lost the confidence of his team, leading to the suspension of vocal players Moses Waiswa and goalkeeper Derrick Ochan by the coach.

This upcoming match appears to be a critical moment for KCCA, but it comes at an inopportune time as they face a buoyant Kitara team playing in front of their enthusiastic and football-loving fans.

This will be the third fourth meeting, including one in Uganda Cup, and KCCA FC been victorious on all occasions.

Muhammad Shaban’s first half goal was the difference back in 2018 when KCCA beat a then FUFA Big League side Kitara in the Uganda Cup at Boma Grounds in Hoima to reach the semifinals.

In 2021, after winning 4-0 at Lugogo, KCCA beat Kitara 6-2 on the road – Sam Senyonjo scored a quartet while Andrew Kawooya and Charles Lwanga completed the rout.

Vincent Kasoki and Nathan Oloro had given Kitara, who were already relegated at the time, a 2-1 halftime lead in Masindi.

*KCCA FC 4-0 Kitara
