Preview: UPDF FC out for maiden win

UPDF FC is looking to rectify their shaky start in the Uganda Premier League season as they face newcomers NEC FC at Philip Omondi Stadium in Lugogo.

The military side has only earned one point in their first three matches, which was a goalless draw against URA FC in the season opener. Unfortunately, they suffered consecutive losses to Kitara FC and Wakiso Giants.

To make matters worse, UPDF FC hasn’t found the back of the net in any of these three games, and they are eager to break this goalless streak against the league debutants, NEC.

Against NEC, they are up against a familiar opponent, as National Enterprise Cooperation (NEC) is the business arm of the Uganda People’s Defence Forces.

In their recent encounter, Mulamba Bulanchar and Kimera Kenneth led Wakiso Giants to a 2-0 victory over UPDF FC at the Bombo Barracks Ground.

On the other hand, NEC FC is aiming to bounce back from a 3-0 defeat to SC Villa at Mutesa II Stadium in Wankulukuku. It was their first league defeat since Hussein Mbalangu joined the Bugolobi-based side.

NEC FC has had an impressive start in their debut season in the top flight, accumulating six points in three matches. They managed to hold off Mbarara City and even secured a resounding 5-0 victory against Busoga United at MTN Philip Omondi Stadium.

  • NEC FC currently occupies the 5th position in the league with 7 points after three matches, having won two and lost one.
  • They have scored six goals and conceded three times.
  • In contrast, UPDF FC is in 15th place with just one point from three matches, having two defeats and one draw.
  • UPDF FC has conceded three goals and has yet to score.

Head to Head

This will be the first ever meeting between the two sides.
