KIU basketball teams face a critical test in the NBL finals at Lugogo on Sunday as they strive to stay in the title race.

Both the KIU Rangers and KIU Titans find themselves in a challenging position, trailing their respective best-of-series finals 3-1.

If they fail to secure victory in Sunday’s Game Fives, the JKL Lady Dolphins and City Oilers will clinch the titles, the same teams that dominated their respective regular season standings.

Despite winning a closely contested game one at YMCA court with a score of 50-49, KIU Rangers have since suffered three consecutive losses despite their determined efforts.

In Friday’s Game Four, the Rangers squandered a 12-point lead, allowing the JKL Lady Dolphins to mount a comeback and win the contest in overtime.

Notably, Rose Amaniyo, one of KIU Rangers’ key players, fell short of expectations, managing only six points on the night.

In the Men’s finals series, the KIU Titans face the daunting task of halting City Oilers’ pursuit of their ninth consecutive league title.

The Oilers have demonstrated exceptional strength and quality, presenting a formidable challenge for the Titans.

While the KIU Titans managed to secure a victory in the third game after falling 2-0 behind, the Oilers regained control in game four on Friday.

During Game Four, the Titans initially took the lead in the first quarter with a score of 25-19 but struggled to maintain their momentum as the Oilers ultimately emerged victorious.

Notably, Denis Balungu of the Titans failed to score any points on a night when they were out-rebounded 53-48 and committed 23 turnovers.
