FIFA Rankings: Uganda Decline, Africa and World Top 10 Revealed

Uganda Cranes

The Uganda Cranes have suffered a decline in the most recent FIFA Rankings, that have been published on Thursday, October 26, 2023.

They now hold the 90th position, a fall from 89th in the previous rankings released on September 21.

This drop is attributed to Uganda Cranes’ recent losses in International Friendlies against Mali and Zambia while under interim coach Morley Byekwaso.

These rankings are crucial as they precede the commencement of the 2026 FIFA World Cup Qualifiers in November.

In Group G, Uganda’s opponents, Algeria, are currently ranked fourth in Africa and have risen from 34th to 33rd.

Additionally, Guinea, another World Cup qualification opponent, has moved up to the 80th position, while Mozambique remains static at 113th.

Botswana and Somalia have also made progress, securing the 148th and 194th positions, respectively.

Uganda Cranes, currently without a head coach, start their World Cup Qualification campaign next month with two away trips against Guinea (November 13) and Somalia (November 20).

The next FIFA World Ranking will be published on 30 November 2023.
