Brilliant UPDF Ends BUL FC’s Winning Start

•SC Villa 3-1 Arua Hill

UPDF FC claimed a well-deserved 2-0 victory, halting BUL FC’s undefeated start to the season in an intense showdown at the rain-soaked Bombo Barracks Ground in the Uganda Premier League.

The goals, one in each half, from Bernard Muwanga’s penalty and a phenomenal strike by Sam Kintu ignited UPDF FC’s success, inspiring a rousing win.

The match took an intense turn when the visitors’ Head Coach, Abbey Bogere Kikomeko, received a red card in the second half due to disputing the referee’s decision, adding to the drama of the encounter.

This marked the end of BUL FC’s winning streak in the season, a remarkable feat as the Eastern Giants had triumphed in all six opening matches before this showdown.

The defeat also extended BUL FC’s winless streak to seven matches specifically at UPDF FC.

BUL appeared a mere shadow of their usual strength, failing to pose any significant threat throughout the match.

Muwanga opened the scoring early in the 6th minute from the penalty spot, converting after a handled ball by Walter Ochora, initiated by Robert Eseru’s header off Tebandeke Christopher’s long throw.

Kintu doubled UPDF’s lead with an exceptional long-range shot in the 54th minute, taking advantage of a deflected ball to beat a helpless Tom Ikara in BUL FC’s goal.

The game was marred by heavy rainfall, causing difficulties for both sides to maintain possession and control.

This victory marks UPDF’s second consecutive win, following their previous triumph against Busoga United with an identical score-line.

UPDF now climbs to 9th place with 8 points, while BUL FC retains their position at the league’s summit with 18 points from seven matches.
