Maroons Hand Express First Loss

Friday, November 24
*Arua Hill 2-0 UPDF
*Busoga United 2-1 KCCA
*Express 0-1 Maroons

Express suffered their first defeat of the season, succumbing 1-0 to Maroons during a league match at Wankulukuku.

Solomon Walusimbi unleashed a powerful strike from a distance, stunning Express goalkeeper Abdul Kimera as it found the net.

The game’s momentum was hindered by the soggy pitch following a heavy downpour, resulting in limited scoring opportunities.

Kimera’s performance on Maroons’ goal could have been better, and he struggled on several occasions throughout the match.

During a tame cross from Innocent Biyika, Kimera fumbled before Express managed to clear the danger.

On another occasion, he inadequately parried the ball, but Ronald Orombi failed to capitalize on the opportunity.

Kimera later misjudged a cross, yet Maroons failed to take advantage of his mistake once again.

On the opposite end, Express missed several chances, including Isaac Wagoina’s failure to beat goalkeeper Hannington Ssebwalunyo after a defensive blunder by Maroons.

Ssebwalunyo denied Alpha Ssali, while Marvin Oshaba’s attempt was blocked, and Steven Ssenfuma narrowly missed with a header.

The defeat leaves Express in sixth with 12 points, but with a game in hand still against SC Villa.

Maroons on the other hand, moves to fifth with 14 points after eight games.

What next – Express visit URA on December 1 in Lugazi while Maroons will host Mbarara City on November 30 at Luzira.
