•UPDF 1-1 Mbarara City

UPDF and Mbarara City battled to a 1-1 draw in a Uganda Premier League match held at Bombo Barracks ground.

The Army side secured a point courtesy of Robert Eseru’s goal after the Ankole Lions had initially taken the lead through Henry Kitegenyi.

Following a goalless first half, Mbarara broke the deadlock five minutes into the second half when Kitegenyi capitalized on a pass from Sadat Nsubuga, beating Simon Mabuya in UPDF’s goal.

The hosts equalized seven minutes later as Eseru successfully converted a powerful free kick from the edge of the box.

Throughout the second half, Eseru, Bernard Muwanga, and Rashid Faridi came close to securing a winning goal for UPDF, but Mbarara City held firm, settling for a point.

Mbarara City managed the draw despite the absence of head coach Wasswa Bbosa, who was serving a suspension after being sent off in a previous match against KCCA.

The Army side, under head coach Pius Ngabo, remain inside the relegation, third from the bottom with just 9 points, three adrift of Mbarara City.
