Bright Stars picked a 2-1 win against UPDF in a UPL match held at Kavumba.

Goals from Kato Nemeyimana and league’s top scorer Nelson Senkatuuka secured Stars their third win of the season.

Substitute Rashid Farid’s early second-half goal proved in vain as the army suffered their fourth defeat in five matches.

The Army side remain 15th in the standings with nine points, while Bright Stars climb to 9th with 14 points.

Kato converted Mugume’s corner kick with a sharp header to give the hosts an early lead in the 12th minute.

The first half was rather cautious, with that being the only clear chance.

Ten minutes in the second stanza, Faridi beat two defenders after receiving from Robert Eseru to equalize.

Senkatuka scored his eighth goal of the season with a header from Ashraf Kakande’s corner kick in the 75th minute to put the hosts back in the lead.

The visitors had a chance to level the score, but goalkeeper Hassan Matovu made a brilliant save to deny Ezekiel Katende’s header.

Bright Stars will travel to Lugogo to play NEC next Friday, while UPDF will host KCCA on Thursday.
