Uganda Premier League defending champions Vipers SC has announced the appointment of Charles Livingstone Mbabazi as their new head coach.

Mbabazi who recently thrown in a towel at Arua Hill, joins the Venoms on a two-year contract.

Vipers has also confirmed that the 43-year-old coach steps into his role with immediate effect and is set to lead the team into Wednesday’s match against NEC FC at St Mary’s Stadium, Kitende.

Mbabazi steps in following the departure of Leonard Martins Neiva, who parted ways with the club two weeks ago under mutual agreement.

His arrival coincides with a crucial period for the club, as they aim to reverse their fortunes following two consecutive league defeats.

The Venoms have lost back to back matches against BUL and Express at Kitende and Wankulukuku in that order.

The recent setbacks have resulted in Vipers slipping to fourth place on the table, amassing 24 points in 13 games, prompting the need for a strategic shift in coaching dynamics.

Boasting a wealth of experience, Mbabazi brings a decorated coaching background, having served in various capacities at Wakiso Giants FC, Onduparaka FC, Mbarara City FC, and even the Somalia National team.

His expertise further extends to defunct clubs like Lweza and Masavu as well.

With Mbabazi at the helm, Vipers Sports Club looks forward to revitalizing their performance and re-establishing themselves as a dominant force in the league.
