Preview: Kitara Want To Make Amends

Kitara will be aiming to finish the first round strongly as they face Bright Stars in Masindi.

Having recently suffered a 2-1 away defeat to Busoga United, Kitara seeks redemption in this upcoming match.

They were the second best team in their last game against Busoga United only managing a consolation goal through Paul Mucureezi’s penalty.

This loss marked their fourth of the season, following defeats against Vipers, BUL, and Maroons, with the latter overcoming them on their home ground.

A significant worry for coach Brian Ssenyondo is the team’s inability to secure clean-sheets, conceding 14 goals in as many matches, averaging a goal per game.

And Bright Stars, led by the league’s top scorer Nelson Ssenkatuka with nine goals, poses a challenge for Kitara.

Sitting at 10th place on the table with 18 points, the visitors come into this game unbeaten in their last three matches, clinching a 1-0 victory over Maroons where Senkatuka missed a penalty in the first half.

Kitara, who hosted at Kavumba due to licensing issues in the 2020/21 season, lost 3-1 to Bright Stars with Denis Monday’s goal proving to be a consolation.

Samuel Kayongo Ssekamatte, now at BUL, scored a brace while Marvin Joseph Youngman who is now at Vipers scored the other goal for Bright Stars.

Head to Head

Kitara 1-3 Bright Stars
Bright Stars 5-0 Kitara
