Preview: URA FC Eyes First away win of the season

URA FC aims to secure their first maximum points on the road in the 2023/2024 Startimes Uganda Premier League season when they kick off the second round against Gaddafi FC at the Gaddafi Arena.

The Tax collectors concluded the first half without winning any away matches, drawing four and losing the rest.

The Lugazi-based side’s last away victory was on 25th May 2023, a 1-0 triumph over SC Villa on the final day of the 2022/2023 campaign.

Denis Obua’s coached side also looks to secure their maiden win at the Gaddafi Arena, following a draw and a defeat in their two previous visits.

Entering this game, URA played out a goalless draw with SC Villa at the Lugazi Mehta Ground to conclude the first round last year.

On the other hand, Gaddafi FC is optimistic about their chances as they aim to revitalize their season. The Soldier Boys have strengthened their squad with eight new signings, including David Bagoole, Ivan Sserubiri, Hassan Musana, Bashir Asiku, Jackson Wabuleta, Lawrence Kambugu, Kalule Muna, and Kasimba Abubaker.

Under David Mutono’s management, the team has secured three wins in their last five home matches, losing one and drawing. They hope to build on this impressive form after concluding the first round with a 3-0 defeat to Express at Wankulukuku.

In the reverse fixture, Moses Aliro and Fesali Najib inspired URA to a 2-0 victory at the Mehta Ground.


Gaddafi FC are 13th on the log with 16 points after fifteen matches.

They have registered five wins, a draw and nine loses having scored fifteen goals and conceeded twenty eight times.

At Home, the Soldier Boys have collected 10 points with three wins, a draw and four defeats in eight matches.

The Jinja based side have lost four of there last five matches winning just once.

URA on the other side finished the first round in the 8th position with 21 points in 15 matches.

They have 5 wins, 6 draws and 4 loses scoring 20 goals and allowing 16 against them.

The tax collectors are winless on the road in eight visits with 4 draws and defeats each scoring 10 and conceeding 11.
