Goalkeeper Ronwen Williams emerged as the hero for Bafana Bafana, making a remarkable impact during the penalty shootout by saving four crucial spot-kicks.

The first half saw both sides displaying attacking intent, but the stellar goalkeeping performances of Williams and Cape Verde’s Vozinha kept the score level.

The second half followed a similar pattern, with desperate defending and missed opportunities preventing either team from breaking the deadlock.

As the game extended into extra time, the intensity heightened. Cape Verde’s Gelson Tavares came close to snatching victory in added time, hitting the bar with a powerful shot, expertly touched by Williams.
