URA Edge UPDF For Successive Win

Tuesday, February 6

URA inflicted further misery on UPDF with a 1-0 victory in the Uganda Premier League at the Mehta Ground in Lugazi.

Vianne Ssekajugo’s second-half header proved decisive, extending a perfect start in the second round for David Obua’s charges.

Moreover, it’s the first time URA, who previously beat Gaddafi, has secured consecutive victories this season.

Conversely, UPDF continues to struggle, now languishing in the relegation zone.

Having lost their opening two matches of the second half without scoring a goal, UPDF faces an uphill battle.

Although UPDF had opportunities, including Faridi Rashid’s near-miss in the first half, URA seized control in the second half, with Ssekajugo’s header off a Laban Tibiita corner breaking the deadlock in the 61st minute.

Despite late pressure from UPDF, URA held on for the win. With this result, URA climbs to 6th place with 27 points from 17 matches, while UPDF remains in 15th place with just 9 points.

Notably, UPDF suffered a 3-0 defeat to Kitara FC in their opener at the Bombo Barracks Ground.

**Next Matches:

Both teams will be back in action on Tuesday, 13th. URA will face Wakiso Giants at the Kabaka Kyabaggu Stadium, while UPDF will host NEC FC at the Bombo Barracks Ground.
