UCU Canons bounced back from their previous defeat with a convincing 69-56 victory over D-mark Power in an encounter at Lugogo, as the 2024 NBL season continued its intense action.

Both teams entered the game hungry for redemption after suffering defeats in their previous matchups.

UCU Canons, coming off a tough 52-83 loss to KIU Titans, were determined to reclaim their winning form. Meanwhile, D-mark Power, who had fallen to City Oilers, were eager to turn the tide in their favor.

From the tip-off, UCU Canons asserted their dominance, taking control of the game early on.

Despite a valianteffortortrt from D-mark Power, who managed to keep the score close at times, UCU Canons maintained their composure and held a commanding 32-18 lead at halftime.

Throughout the game, UCU Canons’ Joel Kayira showcased his prowess, delivering a stellar performance with a double-double of 13 points and 11 rebounds.

His teammates, Peter Sifuma and Ekirapa Zachariah, also made significant contributions with 12 and 9 points respectively.

However, D-mark Power fought back resiliently, led by Samad Imran’s impressive double-double of 14 points and 11 rebounds.

Despite the efforts of Phillip Ameny and Elvis Sentongo, who both reached double digits in scoring, D-mark Power struggled to narrow the deficit.

The game took a toll on D-mark Power as they faced adversity with a short-handed roster, with only eight players.

The situation worsened as key players Samad Imran and Isaac Afidra fouled out, leaving Coach Timothy Odeke with limited options.

In the end, UCU Canons emerged victorious, securing their second win in three games. Their dominance was highlighted by their dominance on the boards, out-rebounding D-mark Power 56-39. Additionally, UCU Canons showcased their depth, collecting 36 points off the bench compared to D-mark Power’s 7.
