In a tightly contested match at the Dire Dawa International Stadium, the Uganda Hippos suffered a 1-0 defeat to hosts Ethiopia in the one-match Dire Cup tournament on Sunday.

The lone goal of the game came in the 68th minute, with Biniam Ayten securing the victory for the Ethiopian side.

Despite efforts to stage a comeback, Morley Byekwaso’s squad couldn’t find the equalizer, leaving them disappointed with the result.

The tournament, which initially aimed to feature four teams, ultimately saw only Uganda and Ethiopia participating after Kenya and Djibouti withdrew from the competition.

For Uganda, the focus now shifts to the upcoming African Games scheduled to take place from March 7th to 22nd in Ghana.
