Nam Blazers faced a stunning 57-63 defeat at the hands of Dmark Power in Friday’s clash at the Lugogo Indoor Arena in the National Basketball League.

The Blazers, entering the game with high confidence, were left to rue their expectations as Dmark Power, despite their struggles with six losses in eight games, managed to secure a remarkable victory.

Dmark Power had been grappling with a series of setbacks, suffering three consecutive defeats against JT Jaguars, Our Saviour, and KCCA Panthers leading up to their showdown with the Blazers on Sunday.

Despite a short-handed roster comprising only eight players, Dmark Power defied the odds and emerged victorious.

They kicked off the game by taking the lead in the first quarter with a score of 16-13, and although the halftime saw a level playing field at 28-28, Dmark Power edged ahead in the third quarter with a score of 16-14, maintaining their lead until the final buzzer.

Despite having only three bench players who contributed a mere three points collectively, Dmark Power saw four of their five starters shine with Reagan Lemaniku leading the charge with 18 points, followed by Elvis Ssentongo (13), Phillip Ameny (12), and Samad Imran (10), all scoring in double digits.

Notably, Ameny and Imran also secured double doubles with 14 and 10 rebounds respectively.

On the opposing end, Peter Cheng (22) and Innocent Ochera (11) were the sole double-digit scorers for the Blazers in a night they would prefer to forget quickly.

The Blazers struggled from beyond the arc, managing only 8-for-31 from three-point range and were outrebounded 49-54, contributing to their below-par performance.

This defeat marks the second consecutive loss for Nam Blazers, following their earlier defeat to Our Saviour, highlighting the challenges they face as they regroup for future matches in the league.
