City Oilers concluded the first round on a high after a deserved 80-56 victory over UCU Canons in the National Basketball League game played on Easter Monday at YMCA Court in Wandegeya.

The Canons had moved toe-to-toe with the Oilers, trailing by just four points at halftime.

But Oilers won the subsequent quarters 22-12 and 23-13 in that order to seal a 24-point victory.

James Okello who shot 4-for-6 from deep, filled the stat sheet with 21 points, 11 rebounds and 5 assists.

Tonny Drilleba (14), Titus Lual (11) and Rogers Dauna (10) also scored in double digits for the Oilers.

Joel Kayiira had 11 points and 10 rebounds for his double double while Peter Sifuma shot 5-for-16 to reach 11 points for the Canons.

The Oilers conclude the first round with 10 wins and one loss, with the only defeat coming against Nam Blazers.

Oilers won the rebounding battle 51-42 against a UCU team that shot 4-of-21 from deep.

The defeat is the third for UCU Canons in eight games, for a side that had previously beaten Nam Blazers.
