KCCA Leopards got their second round campaign of the National Basketball League off to a flying start thanks to a 71-48 win over UPDF Lady Tomahawks on Saturday at YMCA court in Wandegeya.

They did it without their influential shooting guard Maureen ‘Momo’ Amoding while Perus Nyamwenge had her time limited to only seven minutes.

Ninette Uwineza led the scorers with 17 points, Leane Nalunkuma added 15 Points while Sylvia Nakazibwe filled the stat-sheet with 8 points, 11 rebounds and 4 assists in an all round performance.

Stella Maris Lunkuse who notched 14 points, was the only UPDF player to score in double digits.

UPDF was limited by their bench that contributed just five points in a game they shot 1-for-23 from beyond the arc.

They had stayed close in opening exchanges, trailing 30-36 at halftime before KCCA later created clear day light after UPDF’s wheels had fallen off.

KCCA Leopards have now won 10 games in 12 attempts while the defeat is the eighth for the Army side who are playing in the top flights for the first time this season.
