Isaac Zebra Junior Wins First National Title at Nakivubo

Isaac Ssenyange Junior emerged victorious over Abas Sseguya after ten intense rounds, claiming his first National Title in the Super Welterweight category, in a thrilling showdown at the refurbished Nakivubo Stadium on Saturday.

Isaac Junior, son of the late renowned boxer Zebra Mando Ssenyange, dominated for most of the fight.

His composed demeanor and precise left hook punches kept Sseguya on the defensive. Despite losing some momentum in the later rounds due to a pre-existing injury, Ssenyange’s early damage secured his win.

“I felt some pain in one of the injuries I had before the fight, and that disturbed me in the later stages. Otherwise, I could have finished him a bit earlier,” Ssenyange remarked. “But I am happy to have won. The only way is up.”

Isaac Junior claims the National Super Welterweight title that has been vacant, after it was stripped off Junju Power.

This victory marks Ssenyange’s fourth consecutive win since turning professional in December last year. His previous wins include knockouts against Tanzania’s Alibaba Talimo and Egypt’s Ibrahim Kandel and Ramy Mahidi.

For Sseguya, this bout marks his second career defeat, his first being against Farahat Manirola.

“He has been the better fighter today, but it has not ended here. I will meet him again next time. I guess he felt the power,” Sseguya commented post-fight.

In the other bout, Zahara Nandawula defeated Flavia Babirye, adding another highlight to the evening.
