City Oilers Hand JT Jaguars Fourth Straight Loss

*City Oilers 72-53 JT Jaguars

City Oilers inflicted JT Jaguars with their fourth consecutive loss in the National Basketball League, securing a 72-53 victory on Wednesday night at Lugogo.

The Jaguars initially led the game, ending the first quarter with a 16-12 advantage.

However, the Oilers gradually took control, overtaking JT by halftime with a 30-26 lead, which they maintained for the rest of the game.

Ivan Muhwezi, who made a comeback after missing the previous game against KCCA Panthers, was instrumental for the Oilers.

He scored 22 points, shooting 4-for-6 from beyond the arc.

Titus Lual also made significant contributions with 13 points, 9 rebounds, and 3 assists.

Despite George Agasi’s stellar performance for the Jaguars, scoring a game-high 27 points and adding 13 rebounds for a double-double, he received little support from his teammates as no other JT player reached double digits in scoring and rebounding.

The Oilers’ depth was evident as their bench contributed 32 points, in stark contrast to the Jaguars’ 7 points from their reserves. This was particularly impressive given the recent departures of key players Tony Drilleba, James Okello, and Jimmy Enabu.

This defeat marks the Jaguars’ fourth straight loss, following setbacks against the Kampala Rockets, KIU Titans, and KCCA Panthers.

Despite this rough patch, the Jaguars already secured a playoff spot in their debut season in the top flight, boasting 10 wins. They will face the JKL Dolphins in their final game of the regular season.

City Oilers, with an impressive record of 15 wins in 16 games, look ahead to challenging fixtures against Nam Blazers, Kampala Rockets, KIU Titans, Ndejje Angels, and UCU Canons in their remaining schedule.
