Park FC etched its name in the annals of Ugandan futsal history by becoming the first team to win all three major futsal trophies in a single season.

The team completed this extraordinary feat by defeating Kisenyi FC 7-5 in a thrilling Super Cup match at the Old Kampala Futsal Arena.

Shafiq Mulangira and Michael Abura handed Park a dream start but Kisenyi FC fought back with Marvin Atengeka, Ilyas Omran, and Abdullahi Ahmed scoring in quick succession to take the lead.

Park FC’s resilience was on full display as Samuel Kalyango equalized, but Abdullahi Ahmed restored Kisenyi’s lead shortly after. Just before halftime, Kalyango scored again, bringing the score to an intense 4-4.

The second half continued the dramatic back-and-forth. Richard Mutumba put Kisenyi FC ahead again, but Derrick Walugembe’s impact as a substitute proved decisive. Walugembe scored twice, securing a hard-fought 7-5 victory for Park FC.

This Super Cup triumph caps a remarkable season for Park FC, who had already secured the betPawa FSL and the Futsal Uganda Cup. This treble marks Park FC’s dominance in the sport, showcasing their exceptional skill and determination.

The evening also saw the Futsal Association Uganda (FAU) and betPawa host the awards ceremony, celebrating the excellence from the 2023/24 Futsal Super League season.

A notable innovation this season was the introduction of locker room bonuses, thanks to betPawa. Match-day squad players of the winning team received bonuses for each fixture they triumphed in, adding a new level of incentive and reward.

FAU Chairman Hamza Junju revealed that a total of UGX 167.5 million was paid out as locker room bonuses throughout the season, distributed via mobile money to the individual accounts of the participating players.

Park FC’s historic achievement and the league’s advancements signify a bright future for futsal in Uganda, setting new standards for excellence and player rewards in the sport.
