WCQ: Sudan Conquer South Sudan In Juba

Sudan defeated neighbours South Sudan 3-0 to keep dominating the CAF World Cup Qualification Group B that also has Senegal and DR Congo.

It was a painful loss for South Sudan, who scored no goal but conceded three infront of their home fans at the innaguration of the Juba National Stadium.

A first half goal from Walieldin Khedr (45’+3) and a goal each in the second half from Yasir Mozamil, (51′) and Mohamed Abdelrahman, (78′) ensured that Sudan walked out of their neighbors’ newly renovated stadium with all three points.

Before the game, President Salva Kiir Mayardit officiated the inauguration ceremony of the Juba National Stadium.

Kiir reaffirmed his government’s commitment to consolidating peace and national unity through sports, adding that the government will continue investing in sports, such as sponsoring football and basketball players on the world stage.

FIFA President Gianni Infantino was also present at the function, and commended the opening of the Juba Stadium as a momentous occasion for the people of South Sudan.

He further emphasized President Kiir’s and the entire government’s commitment to advancing the country’s sports industry.

Juba National Stadium has been under construction for the last five years by GS Construction Company.
