In a thrilling conclusion to their regular season campaign, KIU Titans secured a narrow 64-61 victory over the Kampala Rockets on Saturday at YMCA.
The win was a much-needed boost for the Titans, who were coming off back-to-back defeats against the City Oilers and JKL Dolphins.
The Titans dominated the majority of the game, building a comfortable lead. However, the Rockets staged a fierce comeback in the final quarter, outscoring the Titans 18-7.
Despite the late surge from the Rockets, the Titans managed to hold on for a three-point win.
Edgar Munaaba led the charge for the Titans with a game-high 21 points.
Mpiya Juf contributed a crucial double-double with 13 points and 11 rebounds, while Brian Opio added 11 points to the scoreboard.
For the Rockets, Pauti Ozias Kikomba was the standout performer with 19 points. Luak Ruai and Ole Simon also made significant contributions, scoring 15 and 13 points respectively.
This victory ensures that the KIU Titans finish the season with an impressive 17 wins from 22 games, securing second place ahead of the Nam Blazers.
Despite their defeat, the Kampala Rockets clinched the eighth and final playoff spot.
