Preview: KCCA Out to Maintain Unbeaten Start
Leaders KCCA will aim to maintain their stellar start to the Uganda Premier League season when they host third-placed NEC FC on matchday nine at Lugogo.
The Kasasiro Boys remain the only unbeaten side in the division, but Thursday’s clash against NEC presents yet another stern challenge.
In their previous outing, Abdallah Mubiru’s side earned a dramatic point against Vipers SC, thanks to Ashraf Mugume’s injury-time equalizer in Kitende.
Milton Karisa had given the Venoms a first-half lead, but Mugume’s stunning strike ensured a share of the spoils.
KCCA enter this fixture knowing the stakes are high. They sit atop the table with 18 points, just two ahead of NEC. A loss on Thursday would see them surrender their position at the summit.
NEC, trailing second-placed Vipers by a single point, were held to a goalless draw by Police FC in their last league match before the international break.
Coach Hussein Mbalangu acknowledged the difficulty of the upcoming encounter but expressed confidence in his team’s ability to upset the league leaders.
