UPL: Balinya Scores Two Sublime Freekicks As Police Arrest Onduparaka

Tuesday, April 9
Police 2-1 Onduparaka

Juma Balinya scored not one but two glorious freekicks in Police’s victory against Onduparaka in a league game played at StarTimes Stadium in Lugogo.

Police FC won 2-1 against a hard fighting side to pick their tenth (10) win of the campaign as they accumulate 36 points. Balinya has now scored 19 league goals.

Balinya ripped a shot that proved too much for Keeper Nicholas Ssebwato before hitting the post and ricocheting behind the shot stopper in the opener in the 37th minute.

He later doubled the score four minutes later from a similar spot when his curled effort bent around the wall to leave Ssebwato rooted on his line, more of a spectator.

The hosts could have made it three at the start of second half but Reuben Kimera arrived late, missing Johnson Odongo’s low effort at the mouth of the goal.

Viane Ssekajugo brought one back for the visitors when he squeezed through past Alfred Ganyera who had failed to save safely Caesar Okhuti’s shot.

Onduparaka Too Blunt

The Caterpillars created the best chances and could have scored like three goals before Police took the lead, but were blunt on the day.

The team made four changes to the previous starting team that had lost to Tooro United in Arua with Malish Jamal, Agandu Fred, Faizul Ibrahim and Solomon Okwalinga all starting.

Police FC keeper Ginyera kept out Okocha’s hot shot for a corner.

Malish missed two clear chances – his shot rattled into the side net before arriving a second late to miss Okhuti’s cross. Viane Ssekajugo failed to benefit from Ivan Bukenya’s blunder as his shot went over the bar.

This was Onduparaka’s first league against Police – The Caterpillars had won the previous five meetings.
