Ugandan goalkeeper Nicholas Sebwato scored a stoppage time equaliser against Kiyovu SC to rescue a point for Mukura Victory Sports away from home in the Rwanda Premier League.

In the game played at Kiyovu’s Amahoro stadium on Thursday, Charles Kirongozi had in the 67th minute scored for the home side to lead until the 3rd minute of stoppage time when the visitors’ goalkeeper stood out to level matters.

With the scoreboard showing a 1-0 result and 90+3 minutes played, Mukura had one last chance to attack when they were awarded a corner kick. Sebwato risked it all, vacating the goalposts he was assigned to guard in a desperate last minute bid to attack the opponent’s box.

The goalkeeper took position inside the opponent’s box crowded with green shirts of Kiyovu, and when the ball was brought in, he had his eyes fully focused on the ball, made three quick steps forward, leaped highest in-between three defenders to meet the ball with his head, and just properly redirected it past the Kiyovu goalkeeper, to the back of the net!

The goalkeeper is so synonymous with scoring goals, tracking back on his previous records from Uganda, but it was his first in Rwanda since joining Mukura in 2021 from Proline SC, where he shortly stayed after terminating his contract with Kenya’s Sofapaka.

In Uganda, the shot-stopper has also previously played for SC Villa, Bright Stars and Onduparaka.

Sebwato’s late magic goal saw Mukura avoid their 9th loss of the season, as they have so far succumbed to 8 defeats in the league.

In 27 games, Mukura have also registered 7 draws and 12 wins to sit 4th on the 16-team Rwanda Premier League table with 43 points.
