Uganda was eliminated by Mozambique out of the ongoing 2019 FIBA Africa U16 women championship in Rwanda despite a monstrous display by Maria Najjuma.

The Junior Gazelles led 12-8 after the first quarter and extended the lead to 28-16 at the long break but a third quarter collapse changed fortunes.

Mozambique closed out Uganda to only 12 points against their 25 to take a slim 41-40 advantage after the third, their first lead in the game.

After a long exchange in the last quarter where the lead changed hands, Shannel Julio leveled late with a buzzer beating shot to tie the game at 60-60.

Roger Sserunyigo’s charges failed to hold nerves in overtime, looked warn out as pedigree took it’s toll to fall 9-13, and lose 73-69.
