Vipers played out a goalless draw with Horoya in their first ever CAF Champions League home game on Saturday at St Mary’s Stadium in Kitende.
The Venoms had to endure a numerical disadvantage for the last 12 minutes after left back Isa Mubiru was sent off.
Mubiru received his second yellow in the 78th minute after the referee wrongly judged him to have elbowed an opponent.
The game had plenty of opportunities but neither side managed to find the back of the net.
Yunus Sentamu couldn’t beat the goalkeeper after raced clear on goal while Olivier Osomba shot wide with a goal at his mercy.
The Visitors also missed a couple, including a header that rattled the bottom post.
It’s the first point collected by Vipers who lost 5-0 to Raja Casablanca last weekend on their debut, but the side is yet to score a goal under new coach Beto Bianchi.
Horoya who beat Simba 1-0 in their opener, move second after a draw at Kitende.
In the other group game, Raja picked maximum points after a 3-0 away win at Simba thanks to goals from Hamza Khabba, Soufiane Benjdida and Ismail Mokadem.
Vipers will welcome Simba on Saturday while Horoya visit Raja in the other group game.
