Defending champions Busiro will be seeking for a perfect start against Mawokota as the Masaza Cup 2023 gets underway this Saturday.

The game, to be held at wankulukuku will be graced by the Kabaka of Buganda Ronald Muwenda Mutebi.

Earlier this year in March, Busiro beat Buddu to win their maiden title in the Masaza Cup competition.

But since then, a couple of things have changed at Busiro including the departure of their head coach Simon Peter Mugerwa and their team Manager Paul Nsubuga.

And also, a couple of the players on their winning team including striker Akram Muzanyi are no longer part of the team.

Busiro hired former Buddu coach Ibrahim Kirya and he will be in charge of his first game.

Against Mawokota, his major task will be to ensure that his side earns a perfect start on their road to retain the title.

Meanwhile, Mawokota on the other hand will be seeking to upset the defending champions when they meet at Wankulukuku.

Mawokota have had enough preparations, including fundraising events that were conducted on Thursday in Mpigi.

They retained their head coach Richard Malinga, who will be at the side for fourth consecutive season.

And his task this season will be to see his side go far in this year’s edition, more so winning the title.

They have been unlucky in the past seasons, as they have not gone past the quarter finals but they will fancy their chances this season and also hope for a strong start on Saturday.
